Cue the music - it's the final countdown. In just one week the Democratic ticket for Virginia will be set, and the real challenges to keeping Virginia blue this November will lie ahead. After you make your choice for the Democratic nominees next Tuesday, join AYD for happy hour! (But remember, if you need to vote early absentee by mail or in person time is running out!)
One way you can actively prepare for the fall is to come to a special ACDC/Organizing for America volunteer event this Wednesday night in Ballston. Everyone whose efforts made an Obama victory in Virginia possible is invited to come out to share their experiences and learn how to advance the President's agenda on important issues like healthcare.
Thursday night the AYD LBGT caucus will present a special screening of 'Ask Not' to kick off LGBT Pride Month, while the African American Caucus will host a pre-primary mixer - all are welcome at both events! Plus, be sure to get started on your poolside reading with the the AYD June book club selection.
In other news, thanks to all the YDs who joined us last weekend for the YDA Mid-Atlantic Convention and straw poll - and congratulations to our own Atima Omara-Alwala, who was elected Director of the Mid-Atlantic region.
Finally, please welcome Brian Straw to the AYD Executive Committee as he takes on the position of New Media Director.
Don't forget to vote next Tuesday!
Best wishes,
Melanie Ciolek
AYD Secretary
June is LGBT Pride Month and Thursday June 4th is the start of DC Pride. What better way to kick-off these two great events than by pre-screening the documentary 'Ask Not'?

Doors open at 7:00PM and the film will begin at approximately 7:30PM. Attendance is free but there is a suggested donation of $5 to benefit the AYD LGBT Caucus.
